Manifest scope_extensions browser support
Published Updated
The scope_extensions manifest member lets an installed PWA’s navigation scope span additional origins. Each listed origin must opt in by hosting a /.well-known/web-app-origin-association file that names the app’s manifest id, so the association is declared from both sides. The explainer advises that the app and the associated origins be owned by the same entity.
The table covers the member as recorded in MDN browser-compat-data, where the feature is marked experimental.

Out-of-scope navigation
Section titled “Out-of-scope navigation”Once the association is in place, a link outside the extended scope appears as an external location. When a page in an app window navigates outside the (extended) scope, the explainer notes that an implementation may open it in a new tab or a regular browser window rather than keep it in the app window. A missing or malformed association file on the target origin leaves the extension unauthorised regardless of what the manifest declares.
