Manifest lang and dir browser support
Published Updated
The dir and lang manifest members declare a default text direction and language for the manifest’s localizable members (name, short_name, and icons). Both are valid, optional members under the specification.
This page has no compatibility table. MDN’s manifest reference records dir, lang, and iarc_rating_id as not implemented by browsers, so there is no per-browser row to derive.
What the members do not do
Section titled “What the members do not do”The manifest’s dir and lang are separate from the document’s own <html dir> and <html lang> attributes; declaring one does not set the other. Because no browser acts on the manifest members, direction and language of the page itself still come from the HTML attributes.
